INTERNATIONAL VEHICLE PERMIT

Requirements:

  • One passport size picture of applicant
  • Valid road worthiness certificate
  • Present Vehicle and vehicle registration documentsfor inspection
  • Produce old permit if any

Procedures:

  • Trace file and crosscheck documents
  • Examine vehicle
  • Pay Prescribed fee
  • Complete forms and issue permit

Duration 15 minutes
Register (see appendix)

ACCIDENT VEHICLE TESTING

Requirements:

  • Police request form
  • Present vehicle for inspection

Procedures:

  • Read Police request form
  • Examine the vehicle in the presence of the inspector, driver , owner or representative.
  • Payment of prescribed inspection fee
  • Write report
  • Register to record details in accident register

ISSUES

  • Demarcation
  • Reports should not be written when the vehicle has not been inspected
  • inspection fee outside DVLA premises should be reviewed
  • insurance for technical officers on accident scene
  • Regional and District Licensing Officers Should see to the demarcations harmoniously

Inspection fee:

  • Accra - Gh¢6.00
  • Out station - Gh¢5.00

Required form: The police form
Registers: Two (2) registers

  • One for the station
  • One for the officer

Duration: 30 minutes

Question:

  • Is the accident report confidential?
  • Accident reports should be given to the police officer
  • Schedule officers for specific areas
  • legal fee for accident request is Gh¢1.00
  • Cost recovery - Gh¢5.00
